Rock and River Wintersports Weekend- Keene NY Feb 5-9 2026

Our annual event this year saw a full house of 25 for Friday and Saturday nights with, for the first time, 9 arriving on Thursday and many staying Monday night as well. It was very cold and the strong winds were tempered on the wooded trails. Goggles, facemasks, layers of warm clothing were in full use. Recent snow, as well as a fresh few inches greeting us Saturday morning, enticed most to ski the Jack Rabbit trial right from the lodge including the new re-route. Many snowshoed on the property up to the lean-to and around the loop. Some ventured away to other destinations, with Scott’s Cobble pleasing skiers, now that Cascade Ski Area is closed. Conditions at Heaven Hills and Mt Van Hoevenberg satisfied as well.

The lodges were immaculate and so comfortable, thanks to the dedicated effort of owners, Ed and Teresa Palen and their staff. Everyone pitched in with lots of yummy food, fire tending, cleanup and assuring that people were included in activities. The first of the Winter Olympic events were thrilling and Super Bowl was watched by some.

 We welcomed 7 first-time attendees this year and took tentative reservations for next year when our event is scheduled for Feb. 4-8 2027. There are still a few spaces open.
