Work Weekend Preps Clubhouse for 25-26 Ski Season
11 members, two new to the work weekend, gave of their time to freshen up the Clubhouse for all the members before the snow flies. Thanks to Mike Komoroske, Jim Geiger, Bill Romania, Ryan Sielis, Conrad Peters, Denise Hobson, Tony Calvagno, Carl Sanner, and Bill and Karen Simmons who joined yours truly to make it a fun and productive weekend.
There were the accomplishments of the regular, routine fall maintenance and cleaning as well as some much needed upgrades. And some very good cooking to keep the troops well fed.
Regular maintenance accomplished testing smoke and CO alarms, checking fire extinguishers, checking dehumidifiers, which all three are now working satisfactorily, and many other maintenance items.
The semiannual scrub down on the kitchen tackled stove tops and ovens, refrigerators, cabinet shelves and their contents. There was the regular trip to the laundromat to clean the shower curtains.
The rec room was cleaned top to bottom – ceilings, walls, floors, sports equipment, etc. – as considerable mold germinated when a dehumidifier stopped working. The hockey game was so badly damaged, it had to be thrown out. The floor got a fresh coat of paint. And now the new humidifier and condensate pump are working great and the rec room is back in action!
A special thanks to Denise Hobson for three days bent over her sewing machine to make new kitchen curtains and valances. The old ones just couldn’t withstand one more machine washing.
Many of the doors and trim on the first and second floors was looking a little, shall we “shabby”. Thus, a lot of trim and doors were cleaned and given a fresh coat of paint.
The ski equipment drying room got a complete facelift. New entry door. Plywood installed on some walls. New room lighting. Fresh paint on all walls. The floor is painted. New stainless steel racks are installed to hang wet clothing and to dry your boots and gloves. Check it out down in the basement the next time you visit!
Up in the third floor room 31 remodeling was begun with trim work and fresh primer applied. The final color painting awaits . And room 32 will receive the same refresh.
More opportunities to pitch in will be on the calendar shortly. We hope you can join us and join the fun!
