My list of topics for this message is long and varied, so I have selected the one that I believe to be of highest priority in preparation for our elections in July. The position of VP Clubhouse is one of the Board positions which will be voted on at our July Special meeting at Wolf Hollow. I have previously included an outline of each of the offices as they are currently structured, but have given thought to VP Clubhouse, as it is so very broad in scope, and suggest the following: a team of appointments to cover the elements of the position which will include a member who manages reservations at the Clubhouse, a member who acts as hosting coordinator, a member who oversees cleaning and restocking at the Clubhouse and a member who oversees contract negotiations and oversight of contracts. The functions of our SWC Clubhouse necessitate year ‘round attention and a new approach to continue accessibility, as we currently know it. I am very aware that every organization any of us belong to have the same lament - that there are no volunteers and that is why I am proposing a restructuring of this Board position. I would love to hear suggestions, comments and alternative proposals, if you have them. Nominations for all Board positions can be made prior to or at the July 15 membership and special meeting. We are part of a legacy worthy of continuance, but “it takes a village.” Let me know what you think. My best to you all, Karen kjsimmons951@gmail.com

SWC Clubhouse Room Rates for 2026-2027 Ski Season The SWC Board has set the standard room rates for the Waterbury clubhouse based on the number of adults in the room as follows: First person staying in the room $50
Second person (in same room) $45
Third - fifth person (in same room) $40
Dorm room third floor beds per person $40 Examples: 1. Room 11 sleeps up to 3 people - booking for 3 adults is charged as follows: $50 +45 + 40 = $135 per night 2. Room 13 sleeps up to 2 people - a booking for one adult is charged as $50 per night Rates are increasing based on several factors including capital expenditures, higher maintenance fees and costs in general increasing. We are also trying to achieve greater occupancy in rooms that sleep more than one person. These rates will be implemented in the next 10 days so 2026-27 bookings can be made.

Ski Season Roundup Survey
|
|
|
Hello Everyone! We hope you’ve all been having a great spring so far. As we all take our last laps and put our winter gear back into storage, some of you may already be dreaming about the next time you can put the sticks on your feet. We are too! Shopping for next year’s passes has been in full swing and trips have already been booking up.
To get a more complete picture of the needs and desires of membership, we have put together a spring survey. This will help us understand where your desires are, let us know if we have any blind-spots, and hopefully inspire more activities in the alpine ski zone. Some areas we’re especially excited for are the low-cost and close-to-home offerings.
We can’t do this without member participation. That means YOU, the person reading this right now. Use the link below to access the survey. It only takes five minutes to complete, and by doing so you will be entered in a raffle to win a weekend at the Clubhouse or some SWC branded merch! The drawing for this raffle will take place at the July 15th meeting at Wolf Hollow Brewing Co. Mike

President's Column
Transition to spring and summer sports has us all looking for those paddles, checking the bike tire pressures and swiping out long pants for shorts. Oh yeah, and there is the mowing, but that can wait. The first Saturday of June each year is National Trails Day. This is a day of trail celebration and support sponsored by the American Hiking Society. This year the day falls on June 6 and there are organized projects listed on the NATIONAL TRAILS DAY site. Activity does not require joining a published project, but can include work on any trail. This day is a good opportunity to get out doors and give back to the trails we enjoy. The goal is to leave trails better than we find them and make an impact that lasts. Becoming a trail steward is a great way to give back. Find a project or create a project and enjoy all that the trails have to offer.
Bill
